verb 1. stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or until something else happens. "I rang the bell and waited"
2. used to indicate that one is eagerly impatient to do something or for something to happen. "I can't wait for tomorrow"
3. to serve food and drinks to the people sitting at : to act as a server
Questions:
What does waiting mean to you? Are you good at waiting? What are you waiting for right now? Long term? Short term?
As a central theme in scripture the Bible has some great encouragement and reminders of where and to whom we are to wait. Here are some key verses.
In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.
I wait for your salvation, Lord, and I follow your commands.
I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.

it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’
For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.
Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.
But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
Say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.
Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
